Tiny Stabs is our winter craft program at Monster. Join us for all three classes -- or just pick your favorite. First, we have Sashiko mending with Erin Eggenburg. Then, an embroidery basics class with Rosalie Gale - using Sublime Stitching patterns. Finally, we cap off the series with a visit from Robert Mahar - everyone's favorite contestant on NBC's Making It.
Sashiko is an age old Japanese style of mending that is not only functional, but beautiful. In this 3 hour workshop, you’ll learn the sashiko technique by creating your own sashiko patch sampler. You will also learn design transfer techniques and pattern creation. Bring a pair of ripped (or not) jeans to create your own completely unique pair of wearable art. No previous embroidery experience is necessary.
- a pair of jeans that are ripped, or that you would like to embellish
Sashiko needles and some basic thread colors WILL be provided. If you have specific thread colors you would like to use, please bring your own thread (embroidery thread, pearle cotton thread or sashiko thread will work).
Space is very limited so make sure you grab your tickets now if you're interested. Attendees will also receive 20% off any purchases made at Monster that evening.
Erin Eggenburg is a creative embroiderer and the one woman show at wrenbirdarts.com. She has always been an avid recycler, and now incorporates scrap and secondhand materials into her work. She teaches sashiko and embroidery classes regularly in Bellingham.
